Grovesnor House Hotel Afternoon tea was invented by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford (1783-1857), one of Queen Victoria's ladies-in-waiting. At first the practice was limited to the upper classes, but it eventually became so popular that tea shops and tea-rooms began opening for the enjoyment of the general public.

St Paul's Cathedral with its world-famous Dome, is an iconic feature of the London skyline, but there is so much more to Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece than its impressive facade. The interior, with its glittering mosaics, intricate stone carving, and breathtaking vantage points, are just a few reasons why a visit to St Paul's is a must.

Anna's Afternoon Tea gives you the full experience including a selection of fine teas, finger sandwiches, buttermilk scones with Devonshire clotted cream and Cornish strawberry jam, selection of cream puffs and French pastries. All at the historic Grosvenor House Hotel which has been frequented by royalty, celebrities and business leaders since opening in 1929 and continues its time-honoured tradition for exceptional style and service. Set in Mayfair this 'Grande Dame' of Park Lane offers a quintessentially British experience. The Park Room and Library is designed to reflect the style, comfort and charm of a living room in an English stately home.

Grosvenor House is the perfect setting to experience this most traditional English past time, situated on Park Lane so is perfectly combined with a pleasant stroll through Hyde Park or shopping on exclusive Bond Street nearby.

Take this opportunity to visit St Paul's Cathedral which was built in the shape of a cross, with the dome crowning the intersection of the arms. It is one of the largest Cathedral domes in the world. In the crypt are effigies and fragments of stone that pre-date the Cathedral, relics of a medieval world. From Wren's original vision, Jean Tijou's beautiful wrought iron gates of 1700 still separate the quire from the ambulatory; children still test the acoustics in the Whispering Gallery; and the 1695 organ which Mendelssohn once played is still in use.

Opening times:

Grovesnor House Hotel: Daily 2.30pm to 5.30pm (latest admission at 4.30pm).
St. Pauls Cathedral: Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 4.00pm.
