Quick Overview

Get out on your bike and learn some new skills. Introductory mountain biking courses are structured to cover all the core mountain bike skills you are likely to need to get you riding off road. This course is suitable for those new to mountain biking or those wishing to get the basics under their belt. Also suits those who do road cycling or triathlon and wish to try mountain biking.

Agenda

The following modules are covered during the course:

  • Correct bike set up and rider positioning
  • Going uphill
  • Getting downhill
  • Cornering
  • Drops offs
  • Front wheel lifts
  • Emergency trail repairs (including punctures and broken chains)
  • Balance techniques to improve your riding.

What to bring with you:

  • Yourself
  • A fully serviced Mountain Bike - these can be hired at a cost of £20 but must be booked in advance on the Booking Form.
  • Bike helmet (sorry but no helmet = no ride however we can supply helmets for a free loan).
  • Gloves - full finger if its cold.
  • Suitable shoes and clothing for cycling such as trainers that you don't mind getting muddy but not jeans.
  • Waterproofs - if rain is forecast.
  • Spare jacket or fleece - you may get cold when we make stops.
  • Lunch (plenty of it!)
  • Drink - we suggest water or a carbohydrate drink for summer and in addition a flask of something warm in the winter (we mean coffee not alcohol!)

All courses run 10am till approx 4pm.

Locations: Harlestone Firs in Northamptonshire, Woburn Trails near Milton Keynes, Sherwood Pines in Nottinghamshire and Thetford Forest Park in Suffolk.

Please note voucher is valid for 12 months.

Minimum age of 8 years. All visitors under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult.
