Time to don your riding hat and meet your instructors for a safety briefing before heading off to the arena for a 30 minute beginner riding lesson to settle you on your mount and help you with the basics. With that sorted we can ride out into the New Forest on a 90 minute hack, over the heath, amongst the wild forest ponies and cattle, and on into the woodlands where you may be lucky and spot one of the many herds of wild deer.
Please wear full length trousers or jeans and sturdy shoes or boots with a small heel. The heel is important for safety, preventing your foot getting caught in the stirrup. We would prefer shoulders are covered so at least a T shirt please. A pair of gloves are often useful especially in cold or wet weather and we will ride out if it is raining so please bring suitable wet weather clothing if it looks like it may rain.
It is not practical to take cameras, back packs etc on the rides. Our staff will be pleased to assist in taking pictures with your camera on the yard.
Riders are required to sign a registration form before they can ride. Trails are at walk and jog pace only and include beginner riders. More experienced riders will be unable to take a faster pace.
Please allow plenty of time for your journey to the stables. There can be long delays at weekends and holiday periods. The stables offers graded B&B accommodation and will help with other arrangements.
